vulnicura is the eighth studio album from our beloved icelandic singer, björk. for a very long time i was waiting for an album so truthful like this. she told in some interviews that she wrote the album while her marriage was collapsing and so the album was constructed in a way to express her fillings for every stage of that painful event. “our love was my womb but our bond has broken my shield is gone my protection is taken i am one wound my pulsating body suffering being my heart is enormous lake black with potion i am blind drowning in this ocean” in this album we can find amazing songs with beautiful videos like “stonemilker“, “lionsong“, “black lake“, “not get” or the visceral “mouth mantra“. vulnicura, björk 2015

this is for sure one of the best records we have bought for our collection. in 2007, we got the cd version of radiohead‘s “in rainbows” and back then it sounded amazing. today with the collection we had to have the vinyl version. this is, certainly, the best album radiohead ever made. this vinyl was bought in a little shop at porto, portugal called louie louie and we were amazed when saw that was one of the first 2007 pressings from xl recordings, pressed directly from the master. the sound is amazingly clean. in rainbows is a 2007 album, which features amazing tracks like “house of cards”; “15 steps”; “jigsaw falling into place”; “nude”; “reckoner” or “bodysnatchers”. don’t get any big ideas they’re not gonna happen you paint yourself white and fill up with noise there’ll be something missing and now that you found it it’s gone in rainbows, radiohead, 2007
joanna newsom is unquestionably one of the most beautiful voices we have heard. we saw her for the first time at casa da música at porto, and the instant impression was a fragile figure on a stage with a huge white harp. she sang, and sang, and sang. such a crystal voice, a delicate touch and a powerful presence. divers is an 2015 album, full of amazing tracks like “divers”; “sapokanikan”; “leaving the city”; and the most beautiful song of the album “time, as a symptom” “hardly seen, hardly felt– deep down where your fight is waiting down ’till the light in your eyes is fading: joy of life where i know that you can yield, when it comes down to it; bow like the field when the wind combs through it: joy of life and every little gust that chances through will dance in the dust of me and you with joy-of-life and in our perfect secret-keeping: one ear of corn n silent, reaping joy of life” divers, joanna newsom 2015
we bought this vinyl after watching pj harvey at primavera sound festival in barcelona and then at nos primavera sound in porto. we heard a lot about pj harvey on being a goddess of rock, but what we found was a lot more. at first we though it would be a very loud performance. but she was sublime, full of brass and strings, choirs and drums all in a perfect and accurate combination with her voice. let england shake is an 2011 album who features beautiful tracks like “let england shake”, “the words that maketh murder”, “on battleship hill” or “the glorious land”. “what is the glorious fruit of our land? its fruit is deformed children. what is the glorious fruit of our land? its fruit is orphaned children.” let england shake, pj harvey, 2011
it is true that vinyl is in vogue. if one day a vinyl record was a necessary way to listen music with some quality, today has become a way to complete the concept of an album. it is also true that a vinyl collection can be an expensive taste, and so every vinyl should be carefully chosen and treated in the same way. recently we discovered that vinyl records can be pressed (made) in different places and mastered by different people leading to different sound quality. every vinyl record have a “fingerprint” (a code) which tell who pressed it. for the amateurs, the best way to choose wisely is to search for opinions of other buyers. quit tip. first press are more valuable than re-issues. we can find a matrix number written in the vinyl between the last track and the label. usually, if a matrix number ends in -1 it means is a first press (pressed directly from the mother disc).
